Helen Wheels had a long association with BÖC. In the early days, she made costumes for the band; later on, she co-wrote songs such as "Celestial the Queen", "Tattoo Vampire" and "Fallen Angel". A special friend to Albert Bouchard, he later drummed in the Helen Wheels Band. She died tragically after routine surgery, resulting in benefit gigs and a tribute CD.

John Shirley wrote the lyrics to 8 out of the 11 songs on "Heaven Forbid" and followed this up with 8 out of the 11 songs on "Curse of the Hidden Mirror" also. That's consistency, that is... Originally recommended by Sandy Pearlman, John Shirley has perfected the technique of "remote writing" by sending all his lyrics in by email...
